This art quilt was inspired by a photo I took while walking through Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, PA. It was a clear day with the glow of the setting sun lighting up the Liberty Towers in the distance. We had spent most of the year inside our apartment seeking safety from the pandemic but took respite in the fact that we could take daily walks outside, weather permitting.
This was study in perspective but I played with the lines and the colors to give it more vibrancy. Rittenhouse Square is a place you can hear many languages as people stroll by. I love the sense of cultural diversity. I wanted to portray the sense that there was still a lively cultural presence even in the midst of this challenging winter.
