An iconic landmark on the University of Pennsylvania campus, this art quilt depicts the Fisher Fine Arts Library.
Frank Furness was the architect for this Victorian structure, unique for it’s many curves, unusual angles and skylights. Unable to get a good picture from the front of the building because of the large trees and bushes obstructing my view, I shot this angle from the Northwest side of the building.
This quilt is completely created from hand dyed fabric, fused to the surface, stitched, then quilted with spiral circles in various colors of thread. The spiral quilting portrays a sense of energy and vibrancy. The variously colored windows at whimsy to the work.
