Since moving to center city Philadelphia I have enjoyed walking the neighborhoods and taking photos of architecture which I find particularly interesting. The Drexel Building just had some extra character with the roman arched windows and molded shapes. I did not depict it with all these details as that was not my motivation for this piece. My intention was just to see if I could construct a work with basically the correct perspective lines and angles.
I played with colorful glimpses into the windows and also with the spiral quilting. I thought it needed some movement and fun in contrast to the strong angular lines of the building. Below are my photographs of the actual building.
