This art quilt, Play on Curves 2, is created with vibrant Southeast Asian silk ikat. Glowing shades of gold and purple are repeated in the slightly curving lines and circles throughout.

Created with Southeast Asian silk ikat, this art quilt, Play on Curves 2, celebrates vibrant color, curves and circles.

Using this silk ikat for the background I recreated Play on Curves with a new look. The luminous weave of the ikat added a new complexity to the overall piece. I added lots of thread play as in the original work. These include circles and playful doodles within the circles. Slightly curving lines are repeated throughout the piece.

Gradations of color in the background give movement and flow but are more interspersed than in the larger original gradations. These colors are repeated in the curved slices of silk and hand dyed cotton which combine to make a vibrant collection of shapes.

There is a hanging sleeve on the back.

This work is currently on exhibit at the Cosmopolitan Club through Nov. 2, 2023.
